Mounts & installation

For the Mini there are pole, clamp and suction mounts – ideal for campers, balconies and boats. At home the Standard kit is usually fixed with a wall, gable or roof mount or on a mast. Check compatibility with your kit, wind load and a fixing that suits the surface. For a fixed installation in and around Vienna: Starlink installation by Skyline Bau.

Cables

The most common mistake with the Mini: a USB-C cable rated only 3 A (60 W). On a power bank or power station it needs 100 W (20 V / 5 A) with an e-marker. In a vehicle a fused 12 V cable is more efficient. For long runs from roof to router there are extensions; wired devices connect via the Ethernet adapter. Power on the road

According to the datasheet the Mini draws 25–40 W on average. A power bank up to 100 Wh lasts roughly 2–3.5 hours; for workdays or campers a power station is more convenient. Size it with Power station for travel and camping – what size do you need? – or straight in our power calculator.

Wi-Fi, transport, travel

In a large house or garden a mesh system spreads the Wi-Fi; ideally it connects to the Starlink router by cable. For travel: a padded case and a travel adapter for the power supply.

Buying checklist

  • Does the mount fit your kit (Mini or Standard)?
  • Will the fixing cope with wind and suit the surface?
  • Does the power bank/station deliver 100 W USB-C PD (for the Mini)?
  • Is the cable rated for 5 A?
  • Is the capacity enough for your daily needs – plus a reserve?
  • For flights: power bank up to 100 Wh and check your airline’s rules
